Engineered to meet the high standards and needs of the dry bulk sector, this high capacity wagon provides the biggest step change in expanding the market for the movement of dry bulk product by rail in Britain for many years.

In developing the wagon, DB Schenker plans to introduce new rail freight services for customers in the power generation, construction, grain and forest products sectors.

In particular, the wagon is aimed at supporting power generators in their move to introduce biomass and other alternative fuels for energy generation.  It will also enable the movement of fly ash from power stations.

The wagon is:

• already approved to operate on the rail network
• proven to avoid water ingress
• efficient to load as the cover takes less than 70 seconds to open or close
• has haulage capacity of 74.5 tonnes per wagon
• fast, operating up to 75 mph
• available to customer within three months of contractual agreement
