Everyone should be given the chance to achieve their potential, regardless of their financial or social background. It is for that reason the EWS Educational Trust (The Trust), supported by DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd, has been formed.
The Trust has been established with a surplus from the sale of English Welsh & Scottish Railway Holdings Limited to Deutsche Bahn AG.
The purpose of the Trust is to award grants to enable deserving candidates to pursue academic excellence, creative and artistic development and vocational opportunities for the purpose of achieving their fullest possible potential. The Trust will also support applicants in exceptional circumstances, other than those outlined above, aiming to ensure it has as wide a remit to support people as fully as possible.
The EWS Educational Trust to open to applications from current and former employees of English Welsh & Scottish Railway Ltd and DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd, and its subsidiary companies, for them and their families.
It is also open to current employees of:
- Other active rail freight operating companies in the UK
- Customers of DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd services who are directly connected to the provision of freight trains, for example through terminal operations or discharge of trains.
