skip: The DB Schenker single car transports for all of Europe
Why choose DB Schenker to move your containers?

We believe we offer fresh innovation and market driven solutions to enable more containers to be moved by rail to and from Britain's major ports and terminals. In fact, we believe there are eight good reasons to use DB Schenker services:

  • Speed - DB Schenker operates its services at 75mph, enabling journey times to beat road haulage.
  • Reliability - Your customer needs that box delivered on time and you need a rail operator to do that. We are the most reliable operator for the movement of intermodal containers by rail, ensuring that your box gets there, on-time in full (OTIF). In Intermodal our guiding mantra is 'you're only as good as your last on time delivery'.
  • Quantity - Whether you need one box or a whole train of containers moved, we have the right mix of Multi-user and Single-user services to enable your boxes to be moved even from the busiest ports and terminals in Britain.
  • Investment - Product development is at the core of DB Schenker's intermodal strategy, along with our goal to invest in capacity for more container services to and from Britain's ports. This investment is shown by our work at the Port of Southampton, delivering 10 extra round trips a day.
  • Knowledge - Our people are modern logistics/Intermodal professionals with experience of both the intermodal and rail industries, enabling a bespoke service to be specially created for you. Personal contact with our customers is vital, so we have DB Schenker representatives working with you at ports and terminals.
  • Nationwide - We have the unique geographic reach and resource capability through our national multi-user trunk network of services. This enables DB Schenker customers to have their time sensitive container deliveries transported between all the major UK ports, terminals, and regional distribution centres nationwide.
  • Europe - We provide daily services through the Channel Tunnel to countries across Europe, which means you receive a unique, time-sensitive and inventory friendly European wide service. Furthermore, our sister French company, Euro Cargo Rail, is able to provide rail services in France to complement those provided by DB Schenker in Britain. Daily rail services depart from our terminals in Britain for France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, and also Austria, Poland, Switzerland and the new European countries. The services we provide means the Channel Tunnel reaches a lot further than you might think as trains deliver containers to virtually every major location in Europe. For customers sending or receiving containers from France, our sister rail freight company, Euro Cargo Rail, is able to provide a full range of rail haulage services in France to complement those provided by DB Schenker in Britain.
  • Reduce your carbon foot-print

Our full range of services can be viewed from the related links on this page. Please contact us through the Key Contacts section to ensure your Intermodal containers get moving on DB Schenker services.

Daily multi-user services operate to and from the busiest and biggest ports in Britain, connecting with a comprehensive network of inland terminals enabling goods to get to your customer's distribution centres. We also have daily departures through the Channel Tunnel that reach all parts of mainland Europe.

These popular trains are sold on a first come, first served basis, but by discussing your ad hoc and seasonal requirements with us in advance we have the capability to meet your needs exactly when you need us. That's the DB Schenker commitment to our intermodal customers - we won't shut the door when the train is full, we work to get your containers on rail!
