Bow East Logistics Centre – A Sustainable
Route to 2012

skip: The DB Schenker single car transports for all of Europe
The construction phase of the next Olympic Games will be the most sustainable ever, with at least 50% of all building materials being delivered to the building site by a sustainable source.

By switching road deliveries to rail or water the Olympic Delivery Authority will significantly reduce traffic and pollution on heavily congested roads around London.

DB Schenker, the largest rail logistics company in Britain, is helping suppliers make rail deliveries to and from the Olympic Park and the twelve key venues, through the Bow East Logistics Centre, centred between the South Plaza and the main Olympic Stadium in the Olympic Park.

Spread over 28 acres, this purpose built rail freight facility can supply most product types to the construction sites throughout the park. The site, which opened in June 2008, currently manages the delivery and removal of thousands of tonnes of bulk aggregate products for concrete production, 5,000 tonnes of fill material, concrete blocks and waste to and from the Olympic Park on a daily basis.

The Bow East Logistics Centre can also handle multi-modal product shipments from sand and steel to cable reels, pallets and containers. Basically, if it can be shipped by rail, it can be delivered to the Olympic Park by rail from most corners of the world.
