We are able to offer a full range of ability tests as well as being qualified to interpret Saville & Holdsworth personality questionnaires and Myers Brigg type Indicators (MBTI).

The benefits of testing are to provide accurate, reliable and valid information. The data is factual and objective about the individual which can be used to support your selection process. This information is often not available from other selection methods and can decrease the risk of making selection errors.

Occupational testing:
All our services can be tailored to individual customer specifications through levels such as technical, manual, clerical, managerial to executive level including safety critical requirements.

Sample tests:

Verbal Evaluation Test
This test measures the candidate’s ability to evaluate the logic of various kinds of argument.

Verbal Comprehension
This test is used to measure vocabulary and basic work skills using language which is required in the technical grade.

Interpreting Data Test
This test measures the candidate’s ability to make correct decisions or inferences from numerical data.

Numerical Reasoning
Simple reasoning skills with numbers with an emphasis on understanding and reasoning and recognised short-cuts to reach solutions are measured in this test.

Technical Understanding Test

This test will measure the candidate’s ability to understand technical written information.

Fault Diagnosis
Assesses candidate’s ability to identify faults in a logical system.

Graduate & Management Assessment Centres – sample tests below that can be given:

Numerical Reasoning
This test measures the candidate’s ability to make correct decisions or inferences from numerical data.

Verbal Reasoning

This test measures the candidate’s ability to evaluate the logic of various kinds of argument.

Presentation Exercise

The candidate is asked to present a presentation from various information made available to them. The exercise measures innovation, business orientation, planning and communication skills.

In Tray Exercise

This exercise asks candidates to identify issues and then make effective and practical decisions based in the information given. It measures written communication skills, planning business objectives, decision making and analysis of numerical and financial data.

Group Discussion
The group discussion looks at the candidate’s ability to communicate in a group measuring five competencies, communication, directs and controls others, creates positive and effective team working, motivates and influences others and builds and maintain effective relationships.

Personality questionnaire

These questionnaires will provide an indication of an individuals preferred behavioural style at work, providing an in-depth information on how a candidate will fit into certain work environments, how they will work with other people and cope with different job environments.

Personality Profiling (OPQ)
The OPQ32 provides valuable information on an individuals preferred behavioural styles and likely performance against important job competencies on 21 personality characteristics. The OPQ32 dimensions are grouped in three areas: relationship with people, thinking styles, and feeling and emotions. The OPQ provides in depth information on how candidates will fit within certain work environments and teams.

The OPQ can also assist with Career Counselling and succession planning.

16PF
The 16PF questionnaire assesses an individual’s personality against 16 personality factors to provide a valid and accurate predictor of future behaviour.

Train Driver
The Train Driver Assessment is a requirement of the Standard RIS 3751-TOM.

The Assessment is suitable for candidates applying for a position with Freight or Passenger Train Operating Companies.

Group Bourdon Test
This test is designed to determine an individual’s ability to concentrate for a long period of time.

TRP Test

This test is based in two parts, part one assesses the candidate’s ability to retain and recall job related information. Part two assesses candidate’s aptitude for learning new concepts similar to those encountered in driver training.

Mechanical Comprehension test

This test is used to assess the candidate’s ability to understand mechanical principles.

DTG Test
This uses a series of re-actions both visual and audible, which the candidates need to re-act to. It assesses candidate’s ability to switch attention very quickly.

Criteria based interview (CBI)
The CBI uses a highly structured interview format to provide Assessors with evidence of a candidate’s motivation, personal style and attitudes in six key areas which determine how the individual will cope with the unique demands of the driving role and its environment.

Conductor
The Assessment is suitable for candidates applying for a position with passenger train operating company.

Group Bourdon Test
This test is designed to determine an individual’s ability to concentrate for a long period of time.

The Safe Concentration and Attention Test (SCAAT)
This exercise assesses an individual’s capacity to maintain concentration on routine tasks.

The rules acquisition and attention test
The RAAT provides assessors with an insight into a Conductor applicant’s capacity to understand the necessary information, rules and procedures relevant to the job and training.

Ticket selling and checking test
This test enables Assessors to identify if a candidate has sufficient decision making skills to sell customers the right tickets and check ticket validity in real time.

Conductor role play exercise
There is no substitute for observing a candidate in a real time customer interaction and the realistic role plays are specifically designed for Conductor applicants to make this process easy, reliable and highly informative.

Criteria based interview
The Conductor CBI enables assessors to gain an in depth in-sight into how the individuals are likely to behave in key situations that they would find themselves in as Conductors.
