DB Cargo UK is on an exciting journey to become Europe's leading rail logistics provider. Rail is one of the safest and most eco-friendly means of transport, with one freight train able to carry enough materials to build 30 houses. Our services replace the equivalent of over 22 million HGV movements every year, saving 7 million tonnes of carbon emissions. As the UK's leading rail freight operator, we provide freight services to and from mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel, carrying everything from steel to satsumas! We are also playing a significant role in the roll-out of ERTMS (the European Rail Traffic Management System) here in the UK, which will replace old and outdated Victorian lineside signalling with a new, state-of-the-art, in-cab control system known as ETCS (the European Train Control System). This will revolutionise the UK rail industry, making the infrastructure safer and more reliable. It will also increase the capacity of the rail network, creating more opportunities for rail freight.
